HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO SIGN UP?
The perfect time to begin your US college golf journey is after leaving school or within the following year. Most college athletes are aged 16–22, but opportunities can also be available for older students. Whatever your situation, Primus Golf can help you explore the right pathway.
what ability do i need to have?
Golf scholarships are available to players with the right ability and potential. Male college golfers average around a 0 handicap and female golfers around 2—but opportunities exist at higher handicaps too. Primus Golf will help you find the right level and pathway for your game.
YOUR POTENTIAL IS ALSO CONSIDERED
Our team look beyond current performance—they also assess potential. Your golf CV, tournament results, photographs and video footage all help build your profile. Primus Golf will provide trusted guidance on your ability, helping coaches understand where your game is now and how far it could go.
the college system
Scholarship opportunities vary across the different levels of US college golf.

NCAA Division I – the highest and most competitive level
NCAA Division II – offers athletic scholarships and strong competition
NCAA Division III – no athletic scholarships, but academic and financial aid may be available
NAIA colleges – offer athletic and academic scholarship opportunities
NJCAA junior colleges – provide two-year programmes with full or partial scholarships available.

how it works
A college golf team typically has between 8 and 12 players, with around five selected to compete at each tournament.
​
Players earn their place through regular qualifying rounds in training, creating a competitive environment that encourages everyone to improve.
The season runs throughout the academic year:
Autumn: tournaments and team development
Spring: the main competitive season
Postseason: conference, regional and national championships
College golfers combine their studies with regular practice, gym sessions, tournament preparation and travel. Managing both requires commitment—but players receive support from coaches, academic advisers and tutors.
